The Edmonton Oilers hired Keith in 2016 to take on the role of assistant GM, and now that Ken Holland has stepped down as GM, the Oilers find themselves looking for his replacement. Keith was the first name that came to mind, and fans are livid.
Keith began trending online for all the wrong reasons after angry fans reacted. For some reason, he doesn't seem to be a popular man among the fan base, despite the fact that Edmonton went all the way to game 7 of the finals, and for how well they have been handling this off-season with some fantastic signings.
Keith has refused to simply be "Wayne's younger brother", as he has done a great job working as an assistant GM since his hiring in 2016. Fans don't seem to be pleased how he has never once stated he wants to be the GM, and therefore doesn't seem committed to the team.
