It was announced today by insiders Frank Seravalli and Elliotte Friedman that the Calgary Flames have traded Andrei Kuzmenko to the Philadelphia Flyers.

Kuzmenko, who had an emergent season with the Vancouver Canucks in 2022-23, was moved to the Calgary Flames in the Elias Lindholm deal last season.

He has not been able to return to the form that got him 39 goals in his rookie NHL season, and has now been a difficult player for the Calgary Flames to justify.

Per Frank Seravalli and Elliotte Friedman, he will be headed to the Philadelphia Flyers, joining star Russian compatriate Matvei Michkov.

Kuzmenko and Michkov were teammates briefly with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL, and they are certainly familiar with each other's games.

While the trade call has not yet occured, the deal is far enough along for the Calgary Flames to leave Kuzmenko out of the lineup tonight:

John Tortorella's harsh coaching style may not be a good fit for the generally one-dimensional player, as his defense is a place of difficulty, and he is known to be selfish on the ice. Unless his shot can carry him through, he may be seeing the press box at times in Philadelphia.

We will see if the 28-year-old can reboot his NHL career in Philadelphia; if not, the pending UFA may be headed back to his home country sooner rather than later.

UPDATE

Elliotte Friedman has now confirmed that Jakob Pelletier will also be part of the deal headed to the Calgary Flames.

As confirmed by Elliotte Friedman, Joel Farabee will be sent from the Philadelphia Flyers to the Calgary Flames:

Morgan Frost will equally be sent to Calgary in the deal:
