Montreal Canadiens Reportedly in Trade Talks for Three Former Top-10 Picks
The Montreal Canadiens are reportedly in trade talks to land three former top-10 overall picks.
In Montreal, the season has been full of highs and lows, making it hard for fans to predict if the team will be in the playoff mix and if Kent Hughes, the Canadiens' general manager, will be trying to sell or buy assets.
Well, according to a source close to the team, as reported by Marco D'Amico on RG.org, the Habs' management won't follow such a clear path: they could be both buyers and sellers.
In addition to all the upcoming free agents they could trade like Jake Evans, Joel Armia, Christian Dvorak, and David Savard, they have a few first-round picks they could move.
However, the same source confirmed that they won't budge with these picks before they can get a clearer view of where things are going this season:
"The Canadiens are looking to add a young center to their core, especially as they try and figure out what to do with [Jake] Evans and, to a lesser degree, [Christian Dvorak]. "
It was also confirmed that they are looking to add a high-level asset and were linked to three interesting centers: Trevor Zegras, Dylan Cozens, and Casey Mittelstadt:
They'll look to ready themselves before the summer gets crazy. Guys like Zegras, Cozens, and Mittelstadt will be good bets to go and grab now as the Ducks, Avs, and Sabres look to make moves of their own."
What will determine the Habs path will be the on-ice results. As of now, the players showed they win, but must keep pushing if they don't want to be eliminated from the playoff race.
