Alex Ovechkin Calls Out Matvei Michkov
Washington Capitals superstar and NHL legend Alex Ovechkin recently shared his thoughts on Matvei Michkov, revealing one criticism.
Flyers rookie Matvei Michkov is currently 2nd among all rookies in goals with 16 and is 3rd in points with 36.
It has been a fantastic season for the 19-year-old so far, but it has not been drama free.
Michkov has repeatedly bumped heads with Flyers head coach John Tortorella.
Recently, Tortorella benched Michkov after a lazy defensive play lead to a goal against in a game against the Anaheim Ducks.
Apparently though, Tortorella is not the only one who is fed up with Michkov's antics.
Fellow Russian and Michkov's idol Alex Ovechkin recently shared his thoughts on the rookie in an interview, stating that he wished the 19-year-old, "Would show off a little less."
Of course, this comment came just a few days after the Flyers and Capitals played a game where Michkov scored twice, so perhaps this was just a little friendly chirp between rivals.
While the Capitals ended up winning that game, Michkov continues to show up when he faces the great eight, with 3 career goals and 5 points in 3 games against Washington.
Certainly, playing against your childhood idol would energize most of us to give our best performance possible.
It won't be much longer that both Ovechkin and Michkov are in the NHL, so all of us ought to enjoy this rivalry while it lasts.
