Jake DeBrusk trade rumors are heating up again, and the Edmonton Oilers keep surfacing as a landing spot for Vancouver's leading scorer.

A fan proposal made the rounds Friday night, floating a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 third-rounder for DeBrusk. Nearly 10,000 people saw it.

DeBrusk just wrapped a full season in Vancouver. He posted 42 points in 81 games, 23 of them goals, while carrying a minus-31 rating on a team that bled goals all year.

Look closer at his finish, though. Over his last 10 games, DeBrusk scored seven times, six of those on the power play.

Zoom in further and it sharpens even more. Four goals in his last five games, three with the man advantage. That's a hot stick to be shopping.

The Canucks closed the year 25-49-8, dead last in the league at 58 points. Their goal differential landed at minus-100, the worst mark anywhere.

Edmonton sits in a different universe entirely. The Oilers finished 41-30-11 for 93 points, second in the Pacific Division, with a plus-13 goal differential.

Why the Oilers' cap sheet makes this trickier than it looks

Here's the catch with the fan math. Edmonton already carries Leon Draisaitl at $14,000,000 and Connor McDavid at $12,500,000 against the books.

Add Evan Bouchard's $10,500,000 on the blue line and there isn't much room left to simply bolt on DeBrusk's $5,500,000 hit without moving salary out first.

DeBrusk is 29, wears number 74, and plays for a Canucks team now led by head coach Manny Malhotra.

A 2027 second and a 2028 third for a winger who just scored seven goals in ten games? Is that supposed to move the needle for the worst team in hockey?

Offering two mid-round picks for a 23-goal scorer is like trying to buy a used car that still runs with a couple of scratch tickets. Vancouver should push back hard.

The last time these two teams played, Edmonton walked out with a 6-1 win on April 16. That scoreline has followed the Canucks around all summer.

Nothing about this is official. It's a fan tweet that pulled 9,940 views, not a call from either front office.

But DeBrusk's name keeps landing next to Edmonton in these conversations, and that pattern alone says something is stirring behind the scenes.
