NHL Award-Winning Goalie Agrees to Waive No-Move Clause for One Canadian Team
NHL award-winning goalie and former all-star, John Gibson of the Ducks, has agreed to waive his no-trade clause only for one team, the Edmonton Oilers.
Putting an offer on Ducks goalie John Gibson for an Oilers trade could be a bad idea. There are whispers that claim Gibson would be willing to relocate to Edmonton, however, Stan Bowman disagrees and believes that goaltending is not a concern.
Skinner's most recent stats are impressive, as the Oilers are now leading the Pacific Division with a record of 34 wins, 16 losses, and 4 ties. They have been performing well lately, winning five of their last seven games.
The Oilers current goaltending situation is solid
Skinner, in particular, is having a strong performance this year. This season he is 20-12-4 with a .902 save percentage.
His playoff stats were even more impressive last season: he went to the Stanley Cup finals with Edmonton and boasted a .901 postseason win percentage while going 14-9-0.
The usually overshadowed Calvin Pickard has finally come into the spotlight lately as he boasts a 14-4-0 record to go along with a .901 save percentage, and is currently riding an impressive winning streak of seven in a row.
Gibson is sure to have caught the attention of Bowman, however when considering the trust that he has given to both his goalies, a trade seems unlikely.
Although Edmonton currently does not seem to have any issues, Gibson might have to worry about his annual 6.4 million dollar salary until 2026, as teams may be weary to want to take that on.
