Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk was injured tonight, impacting Kyle Dubas's plans for the upcoming trade deadline.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will almost certainly be sellers at the trade deadline considering their current position in the standings.

The team is last place in the Metro Division, and second to last in the Eastern Conference.

In fact, reports have already emerged that Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas is hoping for a fire sale over the next two weeks.

As a result, we can assume that every player not named Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin could be on their way out of Pittsburgh any moment now.

However, one player that very well could have been traded may now find himself with the team for the rest of the season as his status is suddenly up in the air.

That would be 500-game veteran defenseman Matt Grzelcyk, who was injured on a hit from Rangers center Matt Rempe.

Rempe did get a minor penalty on the play, but Rangers fans were not happy about the call as Grzelcyk put himself in a vulnerable position against the 6'8" forward, who let up as he was making the hit.

Grzelcyk is on the final year of his contract that carries a 2.75 million dollar cap hit.

The 31-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and is not expected to re-sign with the team, so naturally he is an obvious choice for Kyle Dubas to move before the deadline.

Grzelcyk has 26 career goals and 163 points in 503 games. He has 1 goal and 28 points in 58 games this season.

We will have to wait for updates on his status in the coming weeks as Dubas and the Penguins formulate their plan for the the trade deadline.
