Sports Doctor Shares the Worst Case Scenario for Chris Tanev After Scary Injury Last Night

Chris Tanev suffered a scary injury on Tuesday night, and now a renowned doctor has weighed in on the potential ramifications of his injury.

To the surprise of no one, the Toronto Maple Leafs are once again having a fantastic regular season, but with their lack of success in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, nothing matters for this team until they can at least win two rounds in the post-season.

One piece that has elevated this team in 2024/25 has been Chris Tanev, who brings the type of tenacity, grit and leadership that this team desperately needed, and with him on the blue line, confidence is high in Toronto.

Unfortunately, he suffered a nasty upper-body injury on Tuesday night, exiting the game not to return, and now, Dr. Harjas Grewal on social media has weighed in on the potential absence of Tanev, and it doesn't look good for the Maple Leafs.

On one hand, the veteran may miss just a few weeks with a separated shoulder, but in the worst case scenario, he could be out for up to three months if the injury is indeed a broken collar bone.

Fans of the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and Dallas Stars will all tell you just how tough Tanev is, as he time and time again battles through injuries and ailments, but given how important the arms are to playing hockey, this is one he likely won't be able to rush through, so for Tanev and the Maple Leafs, fingers crossed that it's just a short absence and not 12 weeks on the sidelines.
