Vladimir Tarasenko and John Hynes look headed for a split in Minnesota.
That is the clearest read from Elliotte Friedman's update. Tarasenko changed agents again, and Friedman tied that directly to the idea that he is not going back to the Wild.
That matters because this no longer feels like soft contract drift. It feels like a veteran winger getting his next move lined up before the market fully opens.
" Elliotte Friedman: Vladimir Tarasenko has changed agents again which is obviously a sign that he's not going back to Minnesota - 32 Thoughts (6/22) "

Minnesota got production from him. Tarasenko finished 2025-26 with 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points in 75 games, which is solid output for a player deeper in his career.
So this is not a case of the Wild walking away from a player who had nothing left. It looks more like both sides seeing the fit as temporary and moving on before camp talk starts.
That opens a real market because Tarasenko still brings finishing touch, power-play help, and the kind of résumé contenders keep talking themselves into. He also is leaving a team that had Quinn Hughes, Kirill Kaprizov, and Matt Boldy driving offense, so his numbers were not empty.
The Devils stand out right away. Sheldon Keefe's club still has speed and skill, but Tarasenko could give New Jersey another proven winger who can slide into a scoring role without needing the whole line built around him.
A two-time Stanley Cup champion is reportedly on his way out and teams will love it : Tarasenko on the move
Philadelphia fits too. Rick Tocchet coaches a harder-edged team, and Tarasenko could help a Flyers top six that still needs another winger who can finish plays instead of only extending them.
Florida makes plenty of sense on paper. Paul Maurice already runs a deep, defined room, and Tarasenko would not be asked to carry anything heavy there. He would be asked to score in his lane.
Detroit belongs in the conversation because Todd McLellan's team is already dealing with core uncertainty. If the Red Wings lose scoring elsewhere, a short-term Tarasenko add could help patch a top-six hole fast.
Montreal is the more interesting wildcard. Martin St-Louis has a younger group pushing forward, and Tarasenko could be viewed as a veteran scoring winger who helps now without changing the long game.
None of those teams would be buying prime Tarasenko. They would be buying a player who still scored 23 times last season and knows how to live in pressure games.
That is why Friedman's update lands. Vladimir Tarasenko changing agents again is not background noise. It is the kind of move that usually tells the league the next stop is already coming into focus.
Should a contender make Vladimir Tarasenko a priority add this summer?
