New details have emerged in the death of Claude Lemieux, after authorities released an incident report tied to what happened on May 28.

According to the report, Lemieux's family had raised concerns about his sobriety just hours before his death.

His son, Brendan Lemieux, said relatives had noticed changes in Claude Lemieux's behaviour over the past year.

They feared he may have relapsed after 12 years of sobriety, which added weight to the family's concerns that night.

The report says Deborah Lemieux confronted him on May 27 and spoke to him directly about those worries.

It also says she asked him to leave the family home at around 10:30 p.m. before calling Brendan Lemieux to talk through the situation.

What the report says happened next

Brendan Lemieux later checked his father's location on his phone and saw he was at the family business.

He then went there himself and found Claude Lemieux's truck in the parking lot when he arrived.

The report says Brendan knew there was a firearm in the glove compartment, so he removed it as a precaution before going inside.

Once inside the warehouse, he found his father and called 911 at 3:24 a.m.

Claude Lemieux was pronounced dead a few minutes later, according to the same report released by authorities.

Investigators also noted that a cellphone was found near the body and that a message had been written on it.

The report further says a bag of THC edibles was discovered at the scene.

But toxicology results were negative for all substances analyzed, based on the findings cited in the report.

Claude Lemieux died at 60 years old and is survived by his wife, Deborah, and his four children.

The release of these details adds another layer to a deeply painful story for the Lemieux family, as more of the final hours surrounding the former NHL player become public.
