Oddly enough, the Bruins and Panthers are scheduled to play each other again for the second time already this season, despite the fact that neither team has even reached five games played yet. Sometimes the NHL schedule just works out that way. In this case though, it might actually be good for fans as tensions should be high after a hard-fought game between these two teams last Tuesday, where the Panthers won 6-4. The rivalry between these two teams has certainly been growing the past couple of seasons and Frederic appears to be leaning into that, revealing that Matthew Tkachuk backed out of a fight in their last game. This is what Fredric had to say about the incident.
The Panthers have been in the news a lot early on this season. Perhaps that is to be expected as they are the reigning Stanley Cup champions. The reasons why they are in the news are a bit more interesting than that though. First, the team is without captain Alexander Barkov after he hurt himself in a collision with the boards earlier this week. Luckily, that injury was not as bad as many initially feared, with head coach Paul Maurice revealing that Barkov should be back in 2-3 weeks time yesterday.
Despite the fact that this team won the Stanley Cup last season though, they are still looking for ways to improve upon their roster, which did not see much turnover this summer. One area where they appear to be looking at improving is on defense, as the Panthers have been linked to Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren.
Perhaps Fredric is simply jealous of the fact that the Panthers won the Cup last season, and they defeated the Bruins in the second round in the process. Furthermore, the team took down Boston in the first round the year before on their way to the Stanley Cup final. Regardless, we should get a good game between the two clubs tomorrow.
