The Nashville Predators have been off to a slow start in 2024/25, and now they've shaken up their roster by waiving veteran Dante Fabbro.

After adding so much star power this summer, many believed that the Nashville Predators could start the 2024/25 season hot, but through 14 games they sit in last place in the Central Division with a 4-9-1 record. Now, the team have made a shocking roster move, as they have placed a long-time Predators defenseman on waivers.

According to Elliotte Friedman, 26-year old blue liner Dante Fabbro has been placed on waivers in a move that absolutely shocked fans, given the prominent role that he's had with the team over the last few years.

In his NHL career thus far, the former first-round pick has skated in 315 games thus far, tallying 16 goals and 72 points over that time, and with him playing the majority of the team's games in the last three years, this is a shocking move. Fabbro will be a free agent after this season, but with a salary cap hit of just $2.5 million this season, he's an obvious candidate to be claimed in the next 24 hours.

In six games this season, Fabbro has yet to score and has not been much of a contributor, but given his experience level and his production for this team in recent years, this is still a shocker. After very few big names placed on waivers this year, this is truly the most shocking thus far, and given how many teams in the NHL would love to make an addition to their top four, it's safe to say that it's very, very likely that he gets claimed.

With the Predators struggling, it's unclear what they can do to turn their season around, but if it continues this way, don't think that Fabbro will be the only casualty for this roster.
