John Tavares Comments on Scary Injury to Teammate Max Pacioretty
Max Pacioretty has been highly valuable for the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, and now former captain John Tavares comments on his linemates scary injury.
During the Toronto Maple Leafs latest victory over the Montreal Canadiens, veteran Max Pacioretty went down with a lower-body injury, the second of the season, putting his status for the future in Toronto well in doubt.
Despite many questioning the signing this off-season, Pacioretty has been fantastic this season alongside John Tavares and William Nylander on the second line, with the trio combining for 38 points in 16 games played.
Unfortunately, his second injury looked rather scary, and after the game, former captain Tavares was asked about the situation.
Unsurprisingly, Tavares was clearly upset about the injury, as he has built immense chemistry with Pacioretty early in the season, with that line now in danger of being broken up for a lengthy period of time. Last time we saw Pacioretty go down, he was day-to-day, missing just three games for the Maple Leafs, but this team, there's plenty of doubt over his return.
If he does miss time, it's likely to be Connor Dewar that slides into that spot, as he was recently recalled in place of injured captain Auston Matthews, but now with a major need on the wing, he becomes even more valuable.
If Pacioretty is to spend a lengthy stint on the sidelines, it will be a major loss for Toronto, who are already dealing with Matthews' injury, and given how well the veteran plays the physical game, his presence will be sorely missed in this lineup.
