The highly anticipated fight went off without a hitch last night as Tyson and Paul went the distance, putting together 8 rounds of boxing that fans will not soon forget. Unfortunately, the fight was not particularly exciting though as Tyson's age showed.
After a hot start in the first two rounds, Paul proceeded to land blow after blow but he could not knock down the legend of the sport.
Now, both men will be out of action for the foreseeable future as the Texas state Department of Licensing and Regulation has a mandatory rule about recovery times from fights. For every round they complete, they must take three days off. As such, both men will not be able to go again for 24 days.
After the fight, Tyson went to social media to thank his fans and share what the moment meant to him. He may not have won on the scorecard, but it sounds like that was secondary to him just getting another chance in the rink. Of course, getting 20 million dollars doesn't hurt either.
Paul responded to the post himself, saying it was an honor to fight the 58-year-old. It may not have been a fair fight, but the two men have become good friends since Paul entered the boxing world four years ago. It almost felt like an Anakin versus Obi-Wan kind of moment for the men.
With all of that being said, fans are still not happy about the way the fight went down. Hopefully this will not be our last chance to see Tyson in the rink as we would all like to see him put up a better performance. Who knows, perhaps the two will agree to a rematch at some point in the future.
