The New York Jets season to this point has been an utter disaster, and now reports have emerged that their owner shockingly tried to bench their HOF Quarterback.

Despite going all in for a Super Bowl run this season, the New York Jets have been abysmal through 11 games, posting just a 3-8 record and finding themselves out of the playoff race.

In that time, owner Woody Johnson has fired both Head Coach Robert Saleh and General Manager Joe Douglas, and with the team looking for a complete reset, that likely means the departure of Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers.

Now, a shocking new revelation has revealed that Johnson wanted to bench him for playing poorly throughout the season, a move that was rebuked by their coaching staff.

"After losing to Denver, Woody Johnson suggested in a contentious meeting that they bench Rodgers because he felt the QB wasn't playing well. The coaches pushed back and asked each other if he was serious."

That quote comes from ESPN's Dianna Russini, who has had the inside scoop on the failing of the Jets organization throughout the season, and alongside that is ESPN's Rich Cimini, who suggests that Rodgers Jets career is all but over after this season ends.

"One source said he'd be 'shocked' if Johnson brings Rodgers back in 2025," Cimini wrote. "Rodgers, 40, mired in one of his worst statistical seasons, is under contract for next season ($23.5 million cap charge), but none of his salary is guaranteed."

While Rodgers isn't having a dreadful season in comparison to the rest of the league, in terms of the lofty heights set for him as a player due to past success, it's safe to say that he's disappointed not only himself, but the entire Jets organization.

Ultimately, this has been a disaster for the Jets, with Rodgers achilles injury in 2023 ending their season before it began, and after all of that, his tenure will end in much of the same way as they've struggled mightily all season long.
