Chris Kreider was seemingly drawing attention around the league after being placed on the trade block, but now his latest statement has deterred many.

The past few days have been a whirlwind in New York City for the Rangers, with GM Chris Drury seemingly making Chris Kreider, the longest tenured Ranger on the team available via trade.

In the days since, it has appeared as though the Rangers have been scrambling to keep this locker room together, with the belief around the league being that there will be plenty of interest in the former 50 goal scorer.

However, things may have now changed, as Kreider has made a shocking statement in his latest interview that will seemingly ward off plenty of teams from trading for him.

Back locked up on me. Few games back it was lumbar, and then during training camp it was thoraxes.

While the league expected Kreider to take this opportunity to assure Rangers fans and the team that he'll be better and fight for the team, but instead he simply listed off his injuries in hopes that it would ward opposing teams off.

Given everything that has happened in New York over the past week, this is just yet another shocking example of how one report has now snowballed into something much, much bigger, and it could threaten to derail their entire season.

With 9 goals in 19 games this season, Kreider has still been fairly productive on the ice for the Rangers, and while he's a perfect candidate for New York to trade despite their slow start, this interview may ultimately have the desired effect.

The report also named Jacob Trouba as a trade candidate despite being the team's captain, so we could be seeing plenty of change in New York over the next few weeks, so buckle up and get ready for this to continue.
