Despite the NHL putting a fantastic product on the ice, every single night there appears to be at least one poor, controversial decision made by the officials every night, and Saturday was no different already.
In the dying stages of the Montreal Canadiens clash with the New York Rangers, Joel Armia was clearly tripped up, and with just seconds to go in the game, New York capitalized and scored the game winning goal to seal it 4-3.
Unsurprisingly, this left Armia frustrated, as well as Head Coach Martin St. Louis, who reportedly expressed that during his press conference, according to Canadiens reporter Eric Engels.
According to Engels, the press conference lasted exactly 70 seconds, with MSL repeating this phrase over and over again.
Not only was there controversy around the trip on Armia, but several times throughout the game there were questionable calls made, making yet another game in the past week that has been spoiled for a Canadian team due to officiating.
It's unclear if St. Louis will face any type of repercussions for the way he acted during the press conference, and while the media may be frustrated by the way he handled it, it's understandable given how the league has failed to handle their officiating issues.
Ultimately, this was the right move for MSL, as he risked a major fine if he truly spoke his mind on the situation, but regardless, don't be shocked if he still faces discipline for this.
