Mitch Marner warns Toronto fans what could come next if Vegas wins the Stanley Cup
Mitch Marner just told the hockey world what comes next if Vegas finishes the job. Win the Cup, then turn the microphone toward Toronto.
Chris Johnston reported the quote Monday afternoon. Marner wouldn't elaborate on the "dark times" earlier in his career, but he made one thing clear. If the Knights win, the gloves come off.
Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final drops Tuesday in Carolina. Marner is four wins away from holding the trophy he never lifted in blue and white.
That's the part Leafs fans can't ignore. He left in a sign and trade for $12 million a year in Vegas, and is now closer to a Cup than Toronto has been in two generations.
The numbers back the swagger. Marner has 21 points in 16 playoff games, plus-12, with 7 goals and 4 shorthanded assists on a penalty kill that's gutted three opponents.
His regular season wasn't quiet either. 80 points in 81 games, plus-17, 24 goals. The Knights finished 39-26-17 and ran the Pacific.
