Florida Panthers equipment manager Teddy Richards has been suspended from all team activities following his arrest on domestic violence charges.

Officers with the Coral Springs Police Department took Richards into custody just after midnight on Thursday at his home.

According to the arrest report, the incident followed a birthday celebration held at the home earlier that day.

Richards' wife told officers she confronted him because she suspected he was flirting with a friend at the party.

She admitted she threw a small amount of water at him, which the report says made him furious.

The report states Richards then pushed her against a wall and struck her multiple times with both hands, on her face and the top of her head.

Police said Richards took his wife's phone when she threatened to call for help, and she then used his phone to call 911 herself.

The Panthers have issued an immediate suspension following a major controversy

An officer wrote in the report that no injuries were observed on Richards' wife, and that she did not wish to pursue charges or provide a sworn statement.

Richards is facing misdemeanor charges of domestic violence with battery and depriving the use of 911.

He was booked into the Broward Main Jail on Friday and released over the weekend.

The Panthers issued a statement following the arrest, saying the organization had been made aware of the incident.

"Effective immediately, he will be suspended from all team activities and facilities pending investigation," the statement read.

Richards has been with the organization since the 2016-17 season and has won three Stanley Cups, once with Pittsburgh in 2016 and twice with Florida in 2024 and 2025.

He has also worked as an equipment manager for USA Hockey, including at last February's 4 Nations Face-Off, this year's Winter Olympics, and the IIHF World Championships in May.

The case remains under investigation, and the Panthers have not indicated what further action, if any, will follow once that process concludes.
