Félix Paré is joining the Canadiens' organization, giving Martin St-Louis another name worth monitoring from the ECHL level.
The Trois-Rivières Lions confirmed the signing of the 26-year-old Quebec forward for the upcoming season. He returns to North America after three years in British professional hockey.
Paré played for the Glasgow Clan and Nottingham Panthers in the Elite Ice Hockey League. He recorded 33 points and 130 penalty minutes across 116 games overseas.
The Lions aren't adding him to drive their offence. His value comes from his intensity, physical pressure and willingness to make opponents uncomfortable around the boards and crease.
Paré also knows the ECHL. Before heading to Britain, he appeared in 120 games with the Wheeling Nailers and collected 156 penalty minutes.

That experience gives Trois-Rivières another forward who understands the grind of the schedule, the travel and the nightly battle for lineup spots.
A familiar name returns to the Canadiens' orbit
The signing carries an obvious Montreal connection. Félix is the brother of Cédric Paré, whose name still draws a strong reaction from Canadiens fans.
Cédric was involved in the 2024 preseason sequence that left Patrik Laine with a knee injury. The incident quickly made him one of the least popular opposing players around Montreal.
Félix now enters the organization carrying that family name, but his opportunity with the Lions will be judged on his own work. He brings a different path and a clear job description.
Trois-Rivières wants another competitive season, and players with professional experience can stabilize the bottom six when injuries, call-ups and schedule pressure begin reshaping the roster.
There's also a wider organizational benefit. A reliable ECHL affiliate gives Kent Hughes more depth options and creates meaningful minutes for players trying to move closer to Laval.
Paré will need to earn his role through forechecking, discipline and consistency. His penalty totals show the edge in his game, but the Lions will want that aggression controlled.
The surname will create the early attention. What Félix Paré does after puck drop will determine whether Canadiens fans remember him for something entirely different.
