That second part is the interesting one. It is not something Bob can verify through official Leafs channels right now, but it is clearly the sentiment driving the buzz.

Context matters here. The Maple Leafs are coming off a season that ended with a 32-36-14 record, 78 points, and a minus-46 goal differential.

They closed the year on a seven-game losing streak, going 2-7-1 over their final ten.
