Jacob Trouba delivered a dirty and violent slash during Saturday's matchup between the New York Rangers and the Boston Bruins. Trouba delivered the slash to Trent Frederic's head, with a full-swing motion that connected right to the side of his face.
The slash was unquestionably dirty, and the NHL took swift action to punish Trouba. However, the punishment was a measly $5,000 fine.
Ron MacLean Not Happy With The Lack Of Punishment for Trouba
Ron MacLean was clearly not happy with the measly $5,000 fine for Trouba. He took to the intermission of Hockey Night in Canada to share his thoughts, and how he thinks this was not enough.
Fans and other analysts agree that this fine wasn't enough, calling out NHL Player Safety for this decision.
Clearly, the NHL has some issues it needs to sort out when dishing out punishment for certain actions on the ice.
