Jake Allen makes surprising comments on his trade to New Jersey

Despite being traded from the Montreal Canadiens, goaltender Jake Allen clearly has some positive thoughts on his time in Canada.

This past season has been a whirlwind for Jake Allen, as he reportedly blocked a trade to the New Jersey Devils, before ultimately being moved at the trade deadline from the Montreal Canadiens, a place he's called home for the past several years.

Now, he finds himself in the midst of an unlikely playoff push with the New Jersey Devils, and has addressed the trade and his move from Montreal in a recent interview;

While the Devils playoff odds are dwindling in 2023-24, the team is much better set up for immediate success than the Montreal Canadiens, but Allen unsurprisingly didn't have a bad word to say about his former team. Allen simply became the odd man out between Cayden Primeau and Sam Montembeault, but loved his time as a member of the Canadiens, giving them this massive compliment in the process;

Ultimately, the move to accept a trade to New Jersey was the obvious one to make for Allen, who has seen the Stanley Cup Finals before, as he now looks to make a massive push with a young, talented New Jersey team. This is an example of a deal that could end up working out for both teams, and while we often see hard feelings involved in trades, it's good to see that it's not the case here.
