The Utah Hockey Club are down two big names on their blue line due to injury, and now they've found a new target in Blue Jackets veteran Ivan Provorov.

Over the past few days, the Utah Hockey Club have announced that both Sean Durzi and John Marino will be out for long stints with injury, leaving the team desperately needing help on their blue line. Unsurprisingly, this has now made them a top contender to hit the trade market and target help defensively, with the team already being linked to Maple Leafs standout defenseman Timothy Liljegren.

Now, a shocking new report has revealed just how aggressive the team are being in pursuit of blue line help, with Pierre LeBrun of TSN revealing that they have been in contact with the Blue Jackets over veteran defenseman Ivan Provorov.

«My sense though is that the Blue Jackets may not be ready at this point to deal him I don't think they want to take away from their roster too early in the season.»

However, Columbus are coming off a 6-2 defeat of the Toronto Maple Leafs that has their record sitting at 3-3-0, and while they may not be bound for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, keeping their team together while they are playing well makes perfect sense for this front office. During their solid start to the year, Columbus have wins over Toronto and Colorado, showing that there's plenty of fight on this roster, and if all else fails, keeping those veterans around for now will only work to increase their value as long as they continue playing well.

Given the lack of experienced stars on their roster, the likelihood is that they will eventually take calls on the likes of Provorov, James van Riemsdyk and Kevin Lebanc, but for now, it appears they have no interest in dealing their veterans.
