English Premier League Star Michail Antonio Undergoes Emergency Surgery After Scary Car Accident
Michail Antonio is a soccer star in the English Premier League, and today it was reported he was involved in a scary, serious car accident and required surgery.
West Ham United forward Michail Antonio is "conscious" and in "stable condition" following a traffic accident near London on Saturday afternoon, the club announced in a statement, as he underwent emergency surgery.
Details of the accident remain scant, but the team managed to reassure fans that further updates would follow "in due course.".
Michail Antonio is 34 and well embodies an important figure in West Ham's attack, a player who reached an important milestone in his career.
He had an assist on Tomas Soucek's goal in a 1-1 draw against Brentford way back on September 28, which meant his 100th direct goal involvement in the Premier League with the Hammers.
The Jamaica international has been with the Hammers since joining from Nottingham Forest back in September 2015. Over time, Antonio has formed into a fan favorite as he deploys his strength, versatility, and consistency as positives.
Antonio did undergo surgery on what the club described as a «lower limb fracture», but no details on his recovery timeline have been announced yet.
Next for West Ham comes the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday to London Stadium, although it is not yet known if Antonio's availability will be impacted by this incident.
He is no doubt wished a quick recovery by all supporters and teammates alike.
