Inappropriate Conduct: San Jose Sharks Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky Punished by the NHL

The San Jose Sharks have shown great improvement in recent times with their young core leading the way, but after a loss to the UtahHockey Club, their Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky has been fined after giving the officials a piece of his mind.

Behind a breakout year from Macklin Celebrini, the future is looking incredibly bright in San Jose, and while the Stanley Cup Playoffs may still be a few years away, the team is moving in the right direction.

Unfortunately though, that's still going to mean plenty of losses for them this season, one of which they saw this past weekend against the Utah Hockey Club, and with some questionable calls, it had Head Coach Ryan Warsofsky hot.

During the 4-3 defeat, Warsofsky gave the officials plenty of grief over some dreadful calls, with Sharks fans noting it's the hottest that they've seen the 37-year old Head Coach in his short time with the team.

Unsurprisingly, the NHL couldn't have a Head Coach challenging their officials like that, and now, according to TSN's Chris Johnston, he's been handed a whopping $25,000 fine.

According to the league, the fine was given for 'inappropriate conduct', and while he may have gone over the top with his complaints to the officials, it definitely appears to be a major overreaction from the league.

All season long, it has appeared that after every game there have been complaints about the officiating from fans and teams as well, and given this inconsistency, it's no surprise that coaches are getting frustrated.

However, the NHL need to protect their officials, so the fine comes as no shock, but given that we've seen Warsofsky be fined for criticism of the referees in previous jobs, it's safe to say that this won't be the last time we see this from him.
