Yesterday, the Ottawa Senators were in Calgary to face the Flames. The Sens won the game 3-2 in overtime in what ended up being an action-packed evening.
During the game, Brady Tkachuk had to leave the ice after receiving a stick to the face in a battle for the puck against the Flames captain Mikael Backlund.
Check out the incident in the video below:
Tkachuk quickly went to the locker room and was able to return despite losing a tooth and getting nine stitches in the face.
An overtime period was needed to determine a winning team, and who else but Tkachuk could score the game-winning goal?
That's what he did in a two-on-one with Tim Stutzle. He capitalized on a rebound to give his team the win.
After the goal, the Sens captain gave his stick to a young fan and ensured it got in the right hands.

There's no doubt that Tkachuk must've been in pain, but he showed incredible resilience and toughness to return to the game and help his teammates win.
Following the game, Tkachuk opened up during an interview, and he hadn't lost his usual sense of humor.
He said that he's glad the Christmas pictures were taken already and that he now has a "radio face":
Tkachuk is among the NHL's toughest players, and we got another proof. He's exactly what the Senators need to get back in the playoff landscape after failing to qualify in the past seven seasons.
In 32 games so far this season, the 25-year-old forward has 16 goals and 17 assists, with a +1 rating. He's also standing at the fifth rank for most hits in the whole league, with 120 this year.
