On Friday night, we saw one of the biggest upsets in hockey history, with Latvia scoring a dramatic 3-2 shootout victory over the powerhouse Canadian team, who have been facing the wrath of the media on Saturday and over the few weeks leading into the tournament.
Now, an NHL executive has joined in on the criticism, singling out the exclusion of Calgary Flames prospect Zayne Parekh as perhaps the biggest issue behind the team's struggles early in the tournament.
That comment reportedly comes from a current NHL executive, who is saying what everyone in the media and in the fanbase has been saying, with the team making many questionable calls.
Michael Misa, Carter Yakemchuk, Tij Iginla, Michael Hage and many, many others should have joined Parekh on this team to make them the most loaded squad at the tournament, but now they're left scrambling as they look to find some type of momentum in the tournament.
Unsurprisingly, Yakemchuk and Parekh were both angry with missing the team, and they made it very clear after the dramatic loss to Latvia, with both liking social media posts that posted the result of the game.
There's still plenty of time for the team to make up for their idiotic decisions, but if a defeat to Latvia isn't enough to force major changes, this could be a very disappointing few weeks for hockey fans in Canada.
