Seth Jones hasn't been the best during his time with the Chicago Blackhawks, but now opposing teams are circling as they look to land an upgrade at the deadline.

With the 2025 trade deadline less than two months away, talks are heating up around the league, including reports on Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, teams have already been calling about Jones, and despite the fact that he has a $9 million cap hit until the end of the 2030 season, teams are interested.

«But look, he's a quality defenceman, and yes, teams are calling and they're asking about Seth Jones' availability. So it's going to be something that we have to continue to watch as Kyle Davidson, again, put some form of stamp in this fight to the rebuild of the Chicago Blackhawks.»

In 30 games this season, the 30-year old veteran has posted a solid 4 goals and 19 points on one of, if not the worst team in the entire NHL, and after a few years of taking criticism, he's once again becoming a very solid, consistent player at the NHL level.

Given that the Blackhawks likely aren't going to compete for the next few years, moving Jones and retaining on him for a potential asset of the future would be a wise move for General Manager Kyle Davidson, with the team looking to optimize their future with Connor Bedard leading the way.

At this point in time, a Jones trade is a likelihood despite having a full NMC, as he may finally get the opportunity to go compete for a Stanley Cup, and if one of those teams desperate for blue line help at the deadline can fit him in the cap, don't be surprised to see his lengthy deal moved.
