The Canadiens content creator wrote a long public statement Friday addressing what happened after Game 1 of the Buffalo-Montreal second-round series.
He runs a fan content brand that travels in Habs colors to NHL rinks across North America. Five years in. More than ten different arenas. Never once a moment like this.
His own words say a fan grabbed him from behind during post-game filming. The cameraman was spat at.
The video evidence is on his side. Buffalo PD handled the situation and the individual was trespassed.
What stood out wasn't the attack. It was the response from the Sabres fans nearby who pulled the man off him in real time. Seguin made a point to credit them publicly.

He chose not to press charges. Said he believes it was isolated. Said he doesn't want this to define a series that's only just starting.
That's a more measured response than most people would have written 12 hours after being grabbed from behind in an NHL arena parking area.
Seguin laid out the Bell Centre standard in his statement. Habs fans go out of their way to welcome visiting Sabres supporters.
Protect them. Celebrate the shared love of hockey with them.
That's the culture he's asking for in return. The pitch is simple. Disagreement isn't grounds for violence. Wearing the wrong colors isn't grounds for violence. Showing up on rollerblades in opposing team gear isn't grounds for violence.
Buffalo took Game 1 by a 4-2 score on Tuesday at home. The series remains a marquee Original Six matchup that produced a 50-23-9 Sabres regular season and a Canadiens team that beat Tampa in seven in the first round.

The PuckEmpire account on X drew attention to the framing as well, calling out a comment that referred to the situation as a "minor altercation." That description doesn't hold up against video that shows a man being grabbed from behind without warning.
Hockey has wrestled with fan-on-fan and fan-on-creator incidents for years now. Most don't make it past local news.
This one made it past local news because the victim turned the response into a public conversation rather than a private grievance.
What Seguin asked for is a low bar. Don't put hands on people. Don't spit on cameras. Don't let a five-year-old fan project end with a police report.
Whether the rest of the series in Buffalo and Montreal lives up to the standard he's calling for is now on every fan walking into the buildings between now and the end of the round.
