Connor McDavid and the Philadelphia Flyers got linked together this week, and it wasn't some random fan take.
On 97.5 The Fanatic, host Bill Colarulo asked Jason Myrtetus point blank whether McDavid to Philadelphia could actually make sense.
Myrtetus didn't hesitate. He called it his dream scenario for this franchise, pointing to a young core that isn't making big money yet.
McDavid posted 138 points last season, 48 goals and 90 assists in 82 games, on a $12,500,000 cap hit that expires soon.
Philadelphia went 43-27-12 and finished 11th overall, a real season, but one still missing a true number-one center and a power play driver.
Matvei Michkov sits on a $950,000 cap hit and Porter Martone is at $966,667, which is exactly the kind of cheap young talent that buys future flexibility.

Myrtetus argued the East Coast market itself is part of the pitch, calling Edmonton "Siberia" next to the exposure Philadelphia could offer.
Why McDavid actually fills two real holes on this roster
McDavid checks off both boxes Philadelphia is missing: a center who can drive a top line and a player who can single-handedly change a power play.
"He can just take over a game," Myrtetus said. "There's very few of those guys in the league."
McDavid managed just 6 points in 6 playoff games this spring before Edmonton's season ended, a reminder that even generational talent needs help to win it all.
That's not really up for debate. McDavid is the most talented player alive, even if he still hasn't answered the accomplishment side of the ledger with a championship.
Is any of this realistic? McDavid hasn't requested a trade, and no team simply lands a talent like that without a real organizational earthquake first.
But the fact that this conversation is even happening on Philadelphia radio tells you something about how badly this fan base wants a true franchise centerpiece.
For now, it's a dream scenario and nothing more. Whether it ever gets closer to reality depends entirely on decisions McDavid hasn't had to make yet.
