Kole Lind is back in the Canucks' system, giving Manny Malhotra another experienced depth option as Vancouver reloads its organizational layers.
The Abbotsford Canucks announced Friday that Lind has signed a one-year AHL contract, bringing the former Vancouver draft pick back to the organization that selected him. Reddit
It's a minor-league signing on paper. But Lind isn't some random camp body arriving with no connection to Vancouver.
The Canucks drafted him 33rd overall in 2017, and he later appeared on Vancouver's expanded 2020 postseason roster before Seattle selected him in the expansion draft. NHL
He's since become a familiar AHL name, including stops with Charlotte, Coachella Valley and Texas. That journey has taken him from Vancouver prospect to established organizational depth.

There's also a recent Abbotsford connection. Lind faced the Canucks during the 2025 Calder Cup Western Conference Final with Texas and entered that series with 6 goals and 11 playoff points. Abbotsford Canucks
Kole Lind brings a wrinkle to Vancouver's depth chart
Lind scored against Abbotsford in Game 1 of that conference final, then struck again on the power play in Game 3. Vancouver's AHL staff has seen first-hand what he can provide when the pace rises. Abbotsford Canucks
And there's one detail worth clearing up: Lind was not a member of the Florida Panthers when they won the Stanley Cup.
The confusion is understandable because Lind played for the Charlotte Checkers in 2021-22, when Charlotte housed prospects from both Seattle and Florida. Lind was there as a Kraken player, not as part of the Panthers' organization. Charlotte Checkers
By the time Florida captured its championship in 2024, Lind was still under contract with Seattle. He signed with Dallas that summer, separating him entirely from the Panthers' Cup roster. NHL Media
So there's no Stanley Cup ring angle here. There is still something useful for Vancouver: a former high pick returning older, battle-tested and familiar with the organization.
For Abbotsford, that's meaningful depth. And if Vancouver needs bodies during injuries, travel or roster churn, having another experienced winger in the system gives the organization one more option than it had yesterday.
Could Kole Lind earn another NHL look with Vancouver?
