Dylan Guenther got checked from behind by Will Cuylle on Sunday night, and the Utah Mammoth wasted no time responding at Madison Square Garden.

Gino Hard said Utah was not happy, and Spittin' Chiclets noted the response came right away.

The graphic showed the Rangers up 1-0 with 6:02 on the second-period clock.

Utah held an 11-10 edge in shots at that point.

In the wide shot, a Ranger is down on top of a Utah player along the boards while Mikhail Sergachev, in No. 98, skates toward the pile.

Utah was right to respond. A check from behind on your leading scorer can't go unanswered, and Guenther has been that guy so far.

It's someone shoving your best friend at a wedding. Nobody waits for the DJ to sort it out.

All hell breaks loose after Will Cuylle hits Dylan Guenther from behind

Guenther came in with three goals and two assists in two games, and every one of those goals came on the power play.

The 23-year-old carries a $7,142,857 cap hit.

Clayton Keller has four assists, three of them on the power play, and that unit has been the engine of Utah's start.

Sergachev has three points of his own and carries an $8,500,000 cap hit.

Cuylle, 24, is on a $3,900,000 deal and came in with one assist.

Was there a penalty on the play? Neither post said.

It's been a heated night all around, starting with a center-ice scrum right after the Rangers' early goal.

The Rangers also lost Joseph Veleno, who was helped to the dressing room with no weight on his right leg. Joonas Korpisalo is already on injured reserve until at least October 9.

Utah came in 2-0-0 after outscoring Chicago and Columbus 10-1, while the Rangers came in 2-1-0.

Andre Tourigny's group visits New Jersey on Tuesday, and Mike Sullivan's Rangers host the Islanders that same night.

A period and a half of this already. If the rest looks anything like it, the officials will be earning every bit of their paycheck.
