Red Wings prospect Adam Levac has been suspended indefinitely by the OHL, his second suspension in less than a year.

The Peterborough center was assessed a match penalty for a deliberate attempt to injure Sudbury's Mason Walker late in Friday's game, according to Detroit Hockey Now.

Sudbury won 7-3, and the league suspended Levac pending a review of the play.

Detroit selected him 108th overall in the 2026 draft, and he arrived with a reputation for playing on the edge.

Scouts often compared his game to Brad Marchand, though Levac preferred a different parallel.

“I'd say a bit of Matthew Tkachuk and Nick Suzuki... Two hundred-foot players, and they play hard every shift,” he said.

Playing hard every shift is one thing. Two suspensions in under a year is a pattern, and Detroit can't pretend otherwise.

Another suspension could derail Adam Levac's path to the Detroit Red Wings

Last season, Levac drew an eight-game suspension from the OHL for a slew-foot during an altercation with Kaleb Dietsch of the Ottawa 67's.

It was the second-longest suspension the league handed out all season.

In that ruling, the OHL's Department of Player Safety said the actions were not part of executing a hockey play and noted they led to a significant injury.

The league also pointed out that he had no prior history of that kind of incident. That defense is gone now.

Drafting a player for his edge is like hiring a contractor known for cutting corners. It works fine right up until the inspector shows up.

The timing isn't great for the big club, either. The Red Wings are 1-3-1, and the Dylan Larkin and Simon Edvinsson storylines haven't gone anywhere.

How long does Detroit stand behind a pick who keeps landing on the wrong side of the line?

The OHL hasn't announced a length yet, so the next ruling will tell the Red Wings exactly how serious this one is.

Todd McLellan's NHL group hosts New Jersey on Tuesday, but the more uncomfortable conversation might be happening in the development office.

Edge got Levac drafted. Whether it keeps him on Detroit's radar is a different question entirely.
