The boo birds were out in Philadelphia again tonight as the Flyers dropped a 4-1 decision to Carolina, their seventh straight loss to open the season.

Philadelphia is now 0-5-2. The Flyers have just eight goals in seven games, and they haven't scored more than two in any of them.

Shayne Gostisbehere scored the game-winner for Carolina, and Pyotr Kochetkov picked up the win in goal.

The crowd let the team hear it. This is the same building that booed the Flyers off the ice after a 7-0 opening loss to Pittsburgh.

In between came two overtime losses, then three straight regulation defeats on the road, including a 5-1 loss in Boston on Saturday.

The blue line hasn't helped. Cam York, Travis Sanheim and Jamie Drysdale were all deep in the minus column through the early games.

Rick Tocchet's seat gets hotter with every empty night

Rick Tocchet is in his second season behind the bench, and the critics were already loud. One fan called him "the most overrated coach in the NHL" when the team sat at 0-2-2.

Daniel Briere has been linked to Simon Edvinsson, but no blue-line upgrade fixes a team that can't put the puck in the net.

Something has to change this week. A coach can survive a slow start, but seven straight losses with eight goals is a crisis, and Briere can't keep watching from the press box.

The Flyers look like a car that won't start no matter how many times you turn the key. At some point, you stop blaming the weather.

Philadelphia hosts Seattle on Tuesday. The Kraken are 5-2-0 after a 5-3 win in Washington today.

Another loss would make it eight straight. By then, the boos won't just be aimed at the players.
