Jordan Binnington loves it in St. Louis and would love to stay, but David Pagnotta believes this is probably his final year with the Blues.

Pagnotta made the comments on Daily Faceoff Live on Oct. 14, pointing to the circumstances around the goalie.

Binnington stopped 19 of 24 shots in Saturday's loss in Nashville.

He now sits at .831 on a $6,000,000 cap hit.

This feels like the end. A goalie who loves the city but keeps losing ground to a cheaper, younger option rarely gets a storybook finish.

It's like a longtime employee who loves the office but keeps noticing the new hire getting the corner desk.

The 33-year-old has one win in three appearances.

Jordan Binnington probably in final season with Blues, says Pagnotta, as Hofer outplays him

Hofer sits at .906 with a shutout on a $3,400,000 cap hit.

He has appeared in five games to the veteran's three, so Jim Montgomery has already shown where he's leaning.

St. Louis is 3-4-1 and has dropped two straight.

The Blues have allowed 28 goals in eight games and are just 2-4-0 on the road.

Dylan Holloway leads the Blues with 6 points, while Robert Thomas has just 1 goal.

Dillon Dube is out until at least Dec 4 with a neck injury, and Alexey Toropchenko until at least Nov 14.

Pagnotta has also said the goalie is certainly on the Rangers' radar, with New Jersey a possibility if its crease falters.

The Rangers have Dylan Garand at .915, while Jake Allen sits at .885 for the Devils.

Calgary, Vancouver and Los Angeles have all struggled in net too, which keeps the goalie market wide open.

Doug Armstrong can wait for the right offer, with Hofer giving him the cover to do it.

Does Binnington finish the season in St. Louis, or does a contender come calling first?

The Blues open a three-game homestand against Winnipeg on Tuesday, followed by Vegas and Carolina.

Binnington wants to stay. The numbers, and the goalie beside him, are making a different argument.
