Rasmus Ristolainen is back in the Flyers trade conversation, and Frank Seravalli says Philadelphia wants to make something happen.

“I think they're interested in making something happen,” Seravalli said Monday on Frankly Hockey.

The Flyers sure look like a team that needs a shakeup. They're 3-7-3 and sit seventh in the Metropolitan Division.

Their -18 goal differential is the uglier number.

Philadelphia has scored only 24 goals all season, and Saturday's 5-4 loss to Anaheim didn't fix much.

“Ristolainen is one of those guys that last year they probably were asking a lot for, and this year, another run of injuries,” Seravalli said.

Daniel Briere's asking price meets a defenseman who can't stay healthy

The 31-year-old is listed day-to-day with a hand injury. He's expected out until at least Nov. 11.

He's dressed for only four games this season, scoring once.

“His biggest challenge, it seems, is staying on the ice for a full season,” Seravalli said.

A $5,100,000 cap hit doesn't make that pitch any easier for general manager Daniel Briere.

Here's the problem with shopping him now. Selling an injured defenseman in October is like trying to sell a car that's still up on the lift at the garage.

Briere shouldn't rush it. Buyers only pay full price once a guy proves he can string games together.

The blue line around him isn't helping. Travis Sanheim has gone minus-8, and Cam York is on IR with an upper-body injury.

Rick Tocchet's best news comes up front, where Matvei Michkov has eight goals, four on the power play.

So who else fits into the “something” Seravalli hinted at? He didn't name names, and that's what should make Flyers fans nervous.

His final line was the bluntest: “He's going to be one of those guys that's going to be talked about this season.”

Philadelphia hosts Columbus Tuesday night, then visits Washington on the second half of a back-to-back. The trade chatter won't wait for that hand to heal.
