A Vegas fan account floated a Nikita Kucherov trade to the Golden Knights on Sunday, and the Lightning would get three players and two first-round picks.
It's a proposal, not a report, and it should be read that way. But it lands while Kucherov is on an expiring deal with no extension signed, and while the Lightning sit 8-3-2 and eighth in the NHL, hardly a team in sell-off mode.
The trade chatter around him has been loud all weekend. Pierre LeBrun's report on Canadiens and Kucherov trade talk said Montreal could be on his trade list, but that Tampa Bay would never move him inside the division.
Kucherov, 33, has 18 points in 13 games this season. Nobody is selling a player in decline here.

KnightsMuse's idea is for Vegas to send Ivan Barbashev, Trevor Connelly, William Karlsson, a 2028 first and a 2029 first to Tampa Bay for Kucherov.

Vegas is 9-5-1 and second in the Pacific, though the Golden Knights lost 5-2 to the Devils on Friday and visit Boston tonight. Barbashev has 11 points and a +8 rating, Connelly has four goals in 15 games, and Karlsson is at a -4.
Why Vegas would be paying too much
The Golden Knights would be giving up two firsts, plus a 20-year-old Connelly who went 19th overall in 2024, for a player who can walk as a UFA at season's end. That's a steep rental, even for a 1,141-point career.
It also guts the middle of Vegas's lineup. Barbashev and Karlsson are both centers, and Ryan Craig would be rebuilding his depth while chasing a title with a player he can't be sure of keeping.
Tampa Bay's side looks better on paper. Three NHL players and two picks is a real return, and Kucherov's contract situation with the Lightning is the reason the idea exists at all.
But the Lightning are 6-0-0 at home and still very much in the race, and nothing suggests Julien Brisebois is shopping his best player. Tampa hosts Detroit on Tuesday, and the contract talk won't go away with it.
Would you pay two first-round picks and Trevor Connelly for an expiring Nikita Kucherov?
