Sidney Crosby just passed Marcel Dionne for sixth on the NHL's all-time scoring list, Gino Hard reported tonight as the Penguins played in Los Angeles.
Dionne finished his NHL career with 1,771 points, and Crosby had been sitting right at that number. Now he's past it, one more name left behind.
Hard wrote that Crosby has officially taken sixth place on the league's all-time scoring list.

The Penguins and Kings were still playing in the third period when the news landed, so the game's final result isn't in yet.
Crosby is 39 years old and was the first overall pick in 2005. He heard a warm reaction at the Bell Centre only a week ago, in Sidney Crosby's Montreal ovation, and the milestones keep stacking up behind him.
| GP | G | A | PTS | +/- | |
| 2026-27 | 16 | 4 | 6 | 10 | -4 |
| Career | 1436 | 658 | 1113 | 1771 | +193 |
Dionne needed 1,348 games to reach his total. Crosby has played 1,436, so the older mark came faster, but nobody is going to complain about the gap.
The shape of the two careers is different too. Dionne scored 731 goals to Crosby's 658, while Crosby has 1,113 assists to Dionne's 1,040. Sid has built his place as a passer.
| Player | Seasons | GP | G | A | PTS |
| Sidney Crosby | 22 | 1436 | 658 | 1113 | 1771 |
| Marcel Dionne | 18 | 1348 | 731 | 1040 | 1771 |
A historic climb on a struggling team
The timing is cruel for Pittsburgh. The Penguins are 5-9-2, they lost 4 straight coming in, and Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Bruins was ugly.
Crosby has 10 points in 16 games this season and sits at -4. The Penguins are wasting some of the best remaining years of a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and that should bother the front office more than any milestone.
He recently said he won't need much time to adjust to Crosby's line reunion with Evgeni Malkin. If that pairing is going to matter, it has to start winning games soon.
Next up is a trip to Anaheim on Sunday, where the Penguins will try to snap the skid.
Quick hits
MINNESOTA WILD: Nikita Kucherov's overtime goal gave the Lightning a 4-3 win, and the Wild had a two-goal lead in hand. That one will sting for a while.
-
SAN JOSE SHARKS: Will Smith scored, but the Sharks still lost 4-3 in Dallas and have now dropped five straight. Giving away early leads is becoming a habit.
-
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS: Carolina hammered Chicago 9-2, and Spencer Knight was pulled after six goals on 17 shots. Nobody in that locker room wants to watch the tape.
-
EDMONTON OILERS: Connor McDavid's assist streak has reached 18 games, according to SportsnetStats citing NHL PR, which catches Adam Oates. The Oilers face the Canucks tonight.
-
OTTAWA SENATORS: Tim Stutzle moved into the top five for most assists in franchise history, the Senators announced. A quiet, steady climb for their star.
