Brendan Lemieux, who brings quite a bit o baggage along with him to any team, is one of two players placed on the NHL's waiver wire on Wednesday
The NHL's waiver wire for Wednesday, Oct. 16 has been released and it contains two names. One of them carries a lot of controversy around his name regardless of which team he's playing for.
Hitting the NHL waiver wire today are Brendan Lemieux of the Carolina Hurricanes and Dylan Gambrell of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
If no one claims him, Brendan Lemieux will be sent to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. It's been noted by the NHL that Lemieux was dealing with an injury.
"Lemieux, 28, missed both of the Hurricanes' games so far this season with a lower-body injury. The Denver native totaled five points (3g, 2a) and led Carolina with 64 penalty minutes in 32 games during the 2023-24 season. A second-round selection, 31st overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014 NHL Draft, Lemieux has registered 36 goals, 38 assists (74 points) and 548 penalty minutes in 307 career NHL games with Winnipeg, the New York Rangers, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Carolina.."
Brendan Lemieux was once suspended for five games for biting Ottawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk when Lemieux was a member of the Los Angeles Kings.
Dylan Gambrell of the Columbus Blue Jackets has a total of 233 regular season NHL games under his belt. The journeyman centre has also played for the San Jose Sharks and Ottawa Senators. Clearing waivers today is Joakim Ryan of the Carolina Hurricanes. He was placed on the wire yesterday so he could be sent to the Chicago Wolves to get back into game shape following an injury.
