The media can often become too much for some players, and after a personal comment was made, NBA star Joel Embiid simply snapped.

For years now, Joel Embiid has been one of the loudest players in the NBA off the court, and given his lack of NBA Playoffs success, he has become one of the most hated players in the league by many fans. However, that doesn't give the media the right to make personal attacks on Embiid, and that's what reporter Marcus Hayes found out after recently publishing an article mentioning Embiid's family, to which the star big man snapped.

«The next time you bring up my dead brother and my son again, you are going to see what I'm going to do to you and I'm going to have to... live with the consequences.»

That was followed promptly by Embiid getting physical, and now, the league has responded, officially suspending the former MVP center three games for his actions.

Mutual respect is paramount to the relationship between the players and the media in the NBA. While we understand Joel was offended by the personal nature of the original version of the reporter's column, interactions must remain professional on both sides and never turn physical.

That was the statement issued by former Pistons star Joe Dumars, who serves as Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations, and while many players have likely thought about doing the same, professionalism up until this point has largely remained in tact. Embiid is yet to make his season debut in 2024/25, so the three-game suspension will not begin until he is eligible to take the court, and while it's hard to side with either party in this one, hopefully it's a great reminder to both sides of the respect needed to make the relationship work.
