Jacob Trouba, captain of the New York rangers, has addressed rampant trade rumours involving him, as well as teammate Chris Kreider

It's no secret the New York Rangers are in a tailspin close to two months through the 2024-25 NHL regular season. Trade rumours are running rampant, with defenseman Jacob Trouba and forward Chris Kreider as the number one names up for grabs .

Trouba is likely used to the rumours, with a failed trade to the Detroit Red Wings recently coming to light. He's finally opening up on them.

Jacob Trouba was asked about the rumblings today and said he's knows it's part of the game. He insisted he would not take a trade from the Rangers personally.

He added he has not talked to New York Rangers GM Chris Drury about the trade rumours, and said there's not really any reason to do so.

While the New York Rangers currently have a 12-7-1 record, the team has been sputtering lately and there is no lack of complaints in the performance of what is supposed to the Rangers' core players.

Rangers GM Chris Drury needs to right the ship before it's too late, but giving up high value players simply to be rid of them wouldn't be smart on the part of any GM. The 2024-25 season is still fairly young.

In the case of Jacob Trouba, salary will most likely need to be retained by the New York Rangers in a trade as Trouba has a cap hit of $8 million this season and next.
