Hall and Foligno Reflect on Game 7 Collapse After Record-Breaking Season

The Boston Bruins blew a historic regular season in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs two years ago, and now Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno have reflected on it.

Two seasons ago, the Boston Bruins had the best regular season in NHL history, posting a ridiculous 65-12-5 record, giving them the most wins in league history, passing the '96 Red Wings and '19 Lightning who both had 62.

However, that all came crashing down in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, as they blew a 3-1 series lead to the division rival Florida Panthers, losing Game 7 in dramatic fashion after forward Carter Verhaeghe sent them home with a massive overtime goal.

This was historic for so many reasons, and now, veterans Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno have addressed the Bruins meltdown in a recent interview, noting while puck bounces didn't go their way, this was their series and their Stanley Cup to win.

Foligno notes during the interview that they outshot the Panthers 40-20 in Game 5, but somehow through grit, determination and a tough bounce, Florida were able to go on and win the game and ultimately the series in 7 games.

Looking back on the series and that season, the Bruins should have made a much bigger run during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and while anything can happen in hockey, it's clear to see that Hall and Foligno always believed this team would win no matter what.

Now, both players are in Chicago on a rebuilding Blackhawks team, and will likely never find their way onto a team as good as that one again, and while there's been some tough losses in the playoffs over the years, it's hard to deny that this was arguably the biggest choke job in NHL history.
