The Detroit Red Wings have been struggling for years now, but that hasn't stopped the front office from making a move to increase some ticket prices by 400%.
If the Detroit Red Wings fail to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2024/25, it will make nine straight seasons without an appearance, a dreadful stretch for one of the NHL's most iconic Original Six franchises.
However, that hasn't stopped the team from trying to take advantage of their dedicated, loyal fans, as a Red Wings report from Winged Wheel Media has revealed the team are trying to turn one of the most popular areas of their stadium into somewhere that will price out the majority of them.
As of right now, there is no plan to grandfather current season ticket holders or to offer any option to opt out of the all-inclusive package. My rep straight up admitted that this is purely am only making move by the organization and they are aiming for the $200/game price point. This increase will likely push out almost every current season ticket holder in the section and the organization is offering zero apology or compensation to the loyal fans who have held tickets in the section for years. This is a disgraceful display of greed and disloyalty to the season ticket holder that have supported them through the years.
If you are a season ticket holder anywhere in the arena you need to call your rep and loudly voice your displeasure with this decision. If they are going to treat us in the LBC this way, you might be next.
While this area of the arena isn't one that most season ticket holders frequent, it's a signal from the team that profits come above all else, and whether the fans like it or not, they're going to price them out of the area.
The report has called on fans to voice their displeasure with the Red Wings organization loudly, but for now, it appears they are going through with it without any regrets.
