J.T. Miller's time as a Vancouver Canuck is all but up, and now, we know the two teams leading the way to land the 31-year old superstar.

The New York Rangers have been desperate to land J.T. Miller for quite some time now, and recently, a trade between the two parties almost went down before the trade ultimately failed to come to fruition.

Now, it appears communication between the two parties is not over, as NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has now named New York as one of two front-runners to land Miller, noting that another Metropolitan team is hot on his trails as well.

"The Hurricanes and Rangers are two of the teams with permission to talk to J.T. Miller ... The Rangers have the cap room to do it, but the Devils would need to perform roster surgery to pull it off."

According to Friedman, it's New York and Carolina currently battling for Miller, with both given permission to speak with the player and his representatives, and while the Devils are looming as a possible landing spot as well, it appears they may not have the cap space to make it happen.

While other teams like the Bruins and Stars have been mentioned as possibilities, those connections haven't been talked about as much as of late, and now, things are being narrowed down to these two Metropolitan teams.

Miller himself has been much better on the ice over the last few games, as it appears as though he and everyone on the team realise he may be playing his last game as a Canuck anytime soon, and if Friedman's reports are anything to go by, a deal could be coming in a matter of days.
