After one of the most entertaining and successful hockey events in the millennium, Gary Bettman has commented on the future of the Four Nations Faceoff.
In the tournament that featured dozens of NHL stars from Canada, the United States, Sweden, and Finland, where Team Canada ultimately won the content, millions of viewers tuned in.
Now, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, who is cementing his legacy in his final few years as commissioner, has commented on the Rich Eiser show on what the future of the tournament could look like after its incredible success this year.
"The success has been so quick and overwhelming. We've got a lot of things to consider and sort out, including what our All-Star game looks like going forward," Bettman said of the tournament. "But, look, it was all good."
He also commented on the upcoming World Cup.
"We're looking to do a full World Cup, like you see in soccer," Bettman said, adding that they will look to host the tournament in Europe as well as North America.
When asked by Eisen if the 4 Nations tournament was a one-off, Bettman said that he didn't know, but that Eisen was asking "the absolute right question."
"I don't have all the right answers yet," Bettman said.
We will see if the NHL chooses to keep this tournament around - we'd certainly love to see it!
