A mock trade making the rounds would send Matthew Savoie from the Oilers to Columbus for Kirill Marchenko and a contract extension.
The IceMetrix pitch ships Savoie, Spencer Stastney, Kasperi Kapanen, a 2028 first-round pick and a conditional 2029 first to the Blue Jackets.
The Oilers get Marchenko, extended as part of the deal. The post ends with a simple question: "Who says no?"
Nobody has reported talks on this exact package. But the Oilers were among the teams Nick Kypreos said seemed poised to try to make something work.
Marchenko put up 67 points in 76 games last season, and Kypreos reported he desperately wants out of Columbus.
Savoie had 37 points in 82 games last season on a $918,333 cap hit.

Savoie carries an $886,666 cap hit this season, while the Columbus winger sits at $3,850,000. That's a gap of $2,963,334 before any extension kicks in.
Both are headed for restricted free agency next summer, so either way the Oilers end up paying someone.
Kapanen scored and added an assist in Saturday's 4-1 win over Calgary.
Stastney logged 25:41 in Edmonton's 2-1 win in Vancouver on September 24, so he's hardly a throw-in.
Columbus would say yes in a heartbeat.
It's like trading your reliable commuter car plus two future paychecks for a sports car that still needs new tires.
The Oilers already carry Leon Draisaitl at $14,000,000 and Connor McDavid at $12,500,000.
They're also expected to start the season without Jason Dickinson, who re-aggravated a foot injury, so shipping out two forwards gets trickier.
At least seven other teams have been linked to Marchenko, from Toronto and Montreal to Boston and Seattle.
The Oilers open Tuesday against the Canucks, while the Blue Jackets host Buffalo on October 1.
