Teams are taking an interest in Elias Pettersson again, but Nick Kypreos says the Vancouver Canucks are under no pressure to move him.
"There is no urgency for the Canucks to make a move here," Kypreos said on Sportsnet on September 24.
He added that teams are taking an interest in the forward again, which suggests the market never fully went quiet.
No urgency is exactly right. A 27-year-old producing like this is the kind of player you make other teams overpay for, not the kind you rush out the door.
It's getting offers on a house you're still happily living in. Nice to know what it's worth, no reason to start packing.
What's behind the renewed interest? The report didn't say which teams are calling or what changed.
Pettersson carries an $11,600,000 cap hit, the biggest on Vancouver's roster.
Nick Kypreos reveals fresh interest in Elias Pettersson as Canucks hold their ground
Through three games, he has two goals and three assists for Vancouver.
Both goals came on the power play, and he added a shorthanded assist in Saturday's 4-1 win over Calgary.
That shorthanded helper says plenty about how much Malhotra trusts him in every situation.
He's a +2 so far and logged 22:24 against the Flames.
Vancouver also has a 22-year-old defenseman named Elias Pettersson, and he scored the winning goal on Saturday.
Manny Malhotra's Canucks are 2-1-0 and host Vegas tonight.
They opened with a 6-5 overtime win in Edmonton, then dropped a 9-7 decision to the Oilers before beating Calgary.
They've been without Jake DeBrusk, who was sidelined by an illness this weekend.
Leevi Merilainen stopped 23 of 24 shots against Calgary, in a game that also featured Kevin Bahl pushing Aatu Räty into the boards.
Kypreos also reported on September 24 that Montreal had taken a crack at Dylan Larkin, so it was a busy day on his end.
Interest isn't an offer. But the longer Pettersson keeps producing like this, the more those teams will have to pay just to start the conversation.
Should the Canucks listen to offers for Elias Pettersson?
