Hot Take Hockey floated the idea Saturday night, calling it a mock trade alongside a video on Elliotte Friedman's report.
To be clear, this is a proposal, not reporting. Friedman's report, as relayed by Gino Hard, didn't tie him to any specific team.
As fan proposals go, it at least targets the right problem. The Leafs have been looking for blue-line help, per Darren Dreger.
It's fantasy hockey in October, except the players have real contracts and real general managers.
Would Detroit bite? Friedman also reported that the Red Wings are telling teams they're still trying to extend Edvinsson.
His camp isn't talking with the team, per that same report, and his status as a restricted free agent gives Detroit leverage.

In the mock deal, Detroit gets Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Ben Danford, Miles Wood, a 2027 first-round pick from Colorado and a 2029 first.
Ekman-Larsson is 35 and carries a $3,500,000 cap hit.
He has no points through three games this season.
Wood only just arrived in Toronto in the Matthew Knies trade with Columbus.
Friedman has said the Red Wings want players they can use right away in any Dylan Larkin deal, which makes a package built around picks an interesting fit.
Toronto's blue line already includes Morgan Rielly, Chris Tanev and Darren Raddysh, who carries an $8,500,000 cap hit.
The Leafs fell to 1-2-0 with a 3-2 loss to Ottawa on Saturday, a game Thomas Chabot scored in during his first night as captain.
Kirill Marchenko and Auston Matthews scored for Toronto, but Linus Ullmark stopped 27 of 29, and Sergei Bobrovsky took the loss.
