Tyrel Bauer is the first winner of the Winnipeg Jets' new Player of the Game award, and the prize is a length of safety rope.
The Jets described it as "the rope that connects a safety harness to an anchor point," inspired by the team's bonding trip.
Mike McIntyre called Bauer a fitting first recipient, after he set off the sequence that led to two power plays and two goals for Winnipeg.
In the Jets' video, a player in a black top holds a coil of blue rope in the dressing room as teammates watch from their stalls.
Best new tradition in the league so far. A prize that's literally about holding your teammates up fits a rookie who just stood up for his bench.
It's the beat-up hard hat a construction crew passes to whoever saved the day. Cheap, practical and worth more than any plaque.
Who else was it going to go to? Bauer has dropped the gloves in both of his first two NHL games.

Tyrel Bauer's bout with Keegan Kolesar sparked a two-goal swing
Gino Hard described a big check from Bauer on J.T. Compher, with Keegan Kolesar stepping in right after it.
McIntyre called the bout that followed one-sided, and Gino Hard called it decisive.
The game was still scoreless in the first period when it happened.
The Jets won 3-2 in Detroit on Sunday, their first win of the season.
The 24-year-old defenseman carries an $875,000 cap hit and is still waiting on his first NHL point.
Kolesar, 29, is on a $2,500,000 deal with the Red Wings.
Scott Arniel's Jets are now 1-0-1 and head to Pittsburgh on Monday for the second half of a back-to-back.
The Penguins are 2-0-0 after beating Montreal 6-5 in overtime on Saturday.
The Red Wings fell to 0-2-0, in a week that already included Dylan Larkin's trade request and Simon Edvinsson reportedly preferring a trade.
The rope changes hands after the next game. Bauer set the bar pretty high for whoever grabs it next.
Is the Jets' safety rope the best Player of the Game prize in the NHL?
